Grayscale camera is the most commonly used machine vision camera, because of it’s accuracy. Color camera that uses the traditional color image sensor, should only be used if recognizing colours is important. The accuracy difference is between same resolution colour and grayscale camera is because of the traditional colour camera imaging technique, where each photodetector detects only one colour, so the detectors have to be divided on three categories. One detecting red, one detecting green and one detecting blue.
